ARC model and the tone scale:
thread of 4 beads
Dr Jay,
I talk a lot to those who visit me at my studio in Taos New Mexico about a Medical Informatics movement coming from India and Japan, and about the marketing of the virtualTaos concept in those areas and in Europe.
You are well informed about the medical informatics movement.
The virtualTaos process might facilitate the funding of a worldwide medical informatics movement (though this seems to be something requiring some help from the Powers That Be (sometimes lovingly referred to as the PTB).)
The help needed might be only slight in the sense of financial activity.
The key is in the enabling SLIP and Orb technologies, and in making this simplification of the AI paradigm freely available for anyone to use without restriction. Building Sowa type cognitive graphs (metaphor transitions) is possible, as well as measurement of the thematic structure of various levels of the social discourse.
The kinds of restrictions that exist with W3C technology is due to the technology itself being a lie (in a fundamental sense) - it simply cannot do what people think that it is saying that it can do.
See: http://www.ontologystream.com/home2004.htm
Soon, the new virtualTaos technology might begin to finance the development of the SLIP (and Orb) enabling technology. Using this and related technology, one can communicate aggregated concept representations as part of a harvest and re-expression of social discourse.
Well, by communicate I mean one can produce an "ontology stream" were individual viewpoints are reflective of a specific ontology instantiated as what the Road Map called SOI (Scoped Ontology Individuals)
The work we did for US Customs, but rejected by Tom L Bush at Customs is outlined at:
http://www.ontologystream.com/beads/nationalDebate/165-1.htm
with PowerPoints at: http://www.bcngroup.org/gFT/home.htm
One of the consequences of an adoption of the Road Map by US Customs would be a finer ability to levy "smart situational tariffs:

So the social discourse of those, like yourself, with specific knowledge of healing could be not prevented from anyone in the world accessing this knowledge. The key is fidelity of knowledge and reification of representations, and for this we need a functional theory of ontology (quite unlike the W3C standards).
We all have to face the startling, but correct, observation that there are many artificial barriers blocking the use of medical ontology over cultural medicine outside the FDA's stranglehold on "medicine".
As John Sowa might comment (and perhaps he will extend his thought to us), the average person needs detailed ontological models of metabolic processes to serve as a foundation of a free knowledge, by this I mean freely available knowledge, of how to keep oneself healthy and to help ourselves heal when we have a disorder.
Will humanity ever get to the point where such knowledge is freely and properly available on the Internet?
Somehow the political system in the US MUST let go of the notion that the capital markets are leading to a path where individual health and well being is optimized. This lie is very close in metaphoric comparison to the thing called "prosperity gospel".
Something is optimized in our current political/economic system, and this is wealth aggregation into a few hands. But this is not what the framers of the Constitutions were thinking about when the Founding papers were being expressed. The control of our political/economic system by the prosperity gospel is why we must make a transformation of the means by which elections are governed.
The existence and entrenchment of this "State Religion" is the compelling reason why the Supreme Court has to be dismissed and re-built.
Many individuals and organization now believe that the return to the Constitution, the complete Constitution, will require a Second American Revolution.
This objective is the purpose of those of us that talk about ontological modeling support for the medical informatics movement.
So I felt that it was perhaps appropriate to develop a communication of about 40 in the bcc and those core people in the cc whom I feel might be involved in

as of yesterday.
You comment (below) is reflective of what should be but what is not. There is not a non-commercial mechanism that brings a new type of knowledge to a response to catastrophe such as the Hurricane Katrina.
The political system is said to be paralyzed by a Supreme Court which has refused so far to rule against the two party system and the control of the political system in the US by moneyed interests. So we end up electing less than reasonable leadership. See the emerging (powerful) political discussion by the Simultaneous Policy groups (world wide)
There are many answers to current problems that are disallowed by the current economic powers (particularly the Military Industry Complex). But mainstream IT is perhaps the weak point in the established system. Everyone is really ready to understand that computer science "left the barn" several decades ago - with the support of the illusions of artificial intelligence research and development (that has almost no return on investment).
Ontological models provides the way forward, but only when the W3C quits supporting parasitic processes under the polemic of "standards" (hundreds of them).
Why can't the correct literatures in ontological modeling come to dominate the really almost completely worthless W3C standardization activity?
The answer is that correct use of ontological modeling (by people who are not computer science trained) would rapidly undermine the current technology in almost every aspect of the current system.
This would include the transition from corporate owned pharmaceutical industries to (hopefully) systems of family owned closed ecosystem micro farms producing well-understood nutraceutical production farming co-ops.
My planning for a winter (2005-2006) startup of an experimental goat farming micro-farm in Texas might help connect together some "off the grid" technology and social activity.
Anyway, we thank you from your comments and aspirations; while realizing that the medical informatics movement is absent the type of political and economic power necessary to even be legal in most cases in the US.
