Renewal of mathematics and computer science curriculum
The renewal of mathematics education has to start with experimental evidence that almost all adults have a fear of arithmetic, and are not confident that anything about higher mathematics can be learned (by them).
Why?
Is there something missing?
I suggest that we has a choice here. One can believe that
1) Average people do not have the natural capability to learn arithmetic and the foundations of higher mathematics.
2) The required learning process is missing and/or inhibited
We believe that the required learning process is missing and that most mathematics department are staffed with individuals who fail to comprehend their own role in creating Acquired Learning Disability in mathematics.
