Notational Standards

The next generation knowledge tools
Tim,
The core problem that we deal with in creating a first-school second-school distinction is that most people do not see your concept of Semantic Web in the same clear fashion that you do [96]. They see the use of the word “semantic” and they read this to mean, “meaning” – not in a narrow sense as you mean but in a more broad everyday experience sense.
Suppose a message is sent that says “The attack occurred”. What would be the meaning of a message, like this one, heard on 9-11-2001?
The critical narrow use of the word “semantic” in the phrase “semantic web” is only part of the problem, as you know from our previous discussion.
