BCNGroup Colleagues,

Adi's work is becoming strongly formalized, with our help and with discussions involving John Sowa and Richard Ballard.

We will make a comment here, to be elaborated on in the near future.

Ballard has a framework that is derived from Sowa's.  These are "knowledge processors" in a formal sense.

Sandy Klausner, founder of CoreTalk, has a complete programme (method for developing something) that leads to a design time realization of the data regularity in context.  The realization is associated to a specific set of iconic symbols that have already a bit encoding format.  The set of icons is called “Cubicon”.  Internal to Cubicon is a complex framework, like Adi’s framework.

The presence of a structural ontology within Cubicon allows a provably optimal means to establish what is now being attempted with things like web services.  The structural ontology is not one covering the social world and natural language, as discussed in Adi’s framework, but is a structural ontology over the patterns of computer code usage.

Ballard goes beyond this, by showing that the optimal data encoding can be achieved as a simple process.  I will not go into the details, but this process involves the rapid evolution of the set of n-aries whose structure is the minimal encoding of the regularity in the data.

Prueitt’s work on Orbs (Ontology referential bases) follows this work and the work by Applied Technical Systems data encoding patents (1993, 1996) and the Primentia patent (2003).

All of these things point to a rapid simplification in how data is shared, and stored.

An abstraction hierarchy is found in the stratified framework that Adi discovered. The founding committee of the BCNGroup is helping him get this abstraction hierarchy rigorously defined in a proper set and categorical theory.
