Comment to the Protégé forum

The problem with RDF from a semantics viewpoint is that the roles played by class and resource are not made explicit. The meta-layering that Pete refers to has been applied by Ian Horrocks and Jeff Pan to RDF, creating a stratified formulation called RDF-FA (Fixed layer metamodeling Architecture), which straightens out RDF’s non-standard semantics. They have also taken a similar approach to OWL, producing OWL-FA. See
