Notational Standards
discussion à
The Roadmap for Semantic
technology adoption à
The next generation knowledge tools
(on recognizing response degeneracy, or singularity,
in the function to structure determination)
Dr Jay.
The glass bead [100] has allowed us to make, again, a deep connection between gene expression and the new physics - related to organizational complexity.
This connection may become useful in the development of ontological models "complex" enough to model natural and/or terrorism-related phenomenon such as risks and threats to our economic system and to our health care infrastructure.
The bird flu issue will be more and more driving worldwide funding on complex ontological models of processes of surveillance and response.
A comment on W3C use of URIs (Universal Resource Indicators): The complexity in natural organizations has to be indicated within the URI, if URI's where to be properly used as specified by W3C RDF and OWL standards. But there is no W3C standard for doing this type of indication, and only in a few commercial systems do we have knowledge management techniques that address this "reconciliation of terminological difference" issue (SchemaLogic Inc's SchemaServer is one of these).
One long-term focus we, the BCNGroup Org, have is on the surveillance and response mechanisms for bioterrorism defense.
Another focus has been on the surveillance of commodity movements across national borders:
Our work, late 2004 early 2005, within the electronic Customs Project (IBM-Lockheed Martin 1.6 B funding instrument to modernize the IT system of US Customs and Border Protection) showed the need for a more complex model of commodity transactions than what is likely to be delivered by what the BCNGroup regards as the First School of Semantic Science (see comments by Tim Berners-Lee , and our footnotes )
These W3C standards, as well as standard "time and materials" business practices within the contracting community, leads to continuing confusion over the issues of natural complexity. This issue must however be addressed if the Modernization of US Customs is to occur (in our opinion). SAIC's now failed Trilogy project for FBI has very similar problems.
Our society's problem in IT is that the term "complexity" is a term what is overridden by a computer science notion that blindly asserts that there is something proper to call "computational complexity".
Richard Ballard's (mostly unpublished work on information invariance between an algebraic matrix and the matrix's inverse) is the first step in his derivation of his Mark 3 technology.. a technology that we have still not be able to evaluate objectively. But we see that there should be something "there". I and John Sowa, and many others look forward to next year's beta release.
A related problem is the one I have briefly discussed with Tim Berners-Lee regarding the overloading of the term "semantic" in his use of the phrase "semantic web".
Dr Jay, your relationships and communications with those in the world wide community regarding medical informatics could be a key as we attempt to un-confuse social discussion, whose confusion arises from these overloading of terms whose common meaning is subjected to a technical and narrow polemic.
The best way to unconfuse us is to have a knowledge technology that demonstrates the principles of complex ontological modeling. If you put the phrase "demonstrates the principles of complex ontological modeling" into Google the second hit is the Roadmap.
It is noted, often, that the BCNGroup places itself into a conflict with the establishment. This is not because we choose to be in conflict with anyone; it is just that the establishment has chosen to ignore various sciences - including the new sciences related to emergence and natural organizational constructions (such as expressed by genes).
The errors made by modern academic computer science, particularly as related to information science; leads in the causes of institutional entrenchment related to scientific reductionism.
The Roadmap is available even to groups in India, and with Indian software development assistance; we may be able to bring the specified budget for first deployment down from $750,000 (six months) to $400,000 (six months). One has to acknowledge that the ten companies who are willing to allow their software to be used as components will deserve reasonable compensations for patent use.

always typed well, and I work very hard to get all of the words correct in my
