1.        A natural human right to be in an social environment having a free exchange of information is regarded by some as a natural civil right.  If the information is owned, and the ownership of information is used to systematically distort objective truth, then this natural right is violated in some instances.

2.        The exploitation of information availability may be considered to be a violation of Constitutional rights (e.g. the US Constitution and in other constitutions).

3.        Recent scholarship on advertising suggests that advertising, as we know it today, will be replaced by just in time information unencumbered by coercive practices.  Individuals who use information for the purpose of affecting other people’s decision will be required to accept some degree of responsibility for the consequences.  For example a television program that advertises risky behavior will have to pay compensation to those whose decision behaviors are shaped by the advertising.

4.        The Information Technology sector will take responsibility for not delivering functionality when this functionality is advertised.  For example, companies acting as if software returns exactly what information is needed all the time, will have responsibilities in those cases where this function is not produced as advertised.
