The work at Lajitas  à   [63]

Permanence is the key to my work on the gallery and on virtualTaos.

There are some issues that I will be working on over the next two weeks

1) Financial aspect.  A specific investor may provide us with an investment package (we need around $40,000).  I am working on the paper work.  He or other collectors may provide the funds for Phase II.  My Corporation, Ontologystream Inc, also has some new consulting possibilities that may provide me with revenue to do work within a computational lab in the back room of the Pruitt Gallery space in Taos.  I have $2,100 in the bank with back rent of $1,400 and a SWArt ad bill for 1,500.  I also have around $250,000 in painting inventory.

2) Gardening.  The grounds at the Inn can be improved as I continue to do significant gardening projects.  Our completing a garden around the Sheepherder's Hut (given to the Inn by Kelly) is but one of these projects.

I want to put a heated water/rock garden (with fish) in front of the Pruitt Gallery, and complete the display that included the carriage that Kelly and I put out by the Highway on the raised platform.  There are improvements to some garden areas around several of the trees that I have talked to Hans about.  There is also the completion of the lawn improvement along the south wing's courtyard side.  Several other new gardens or lawn areas are easily possible (with a few hours work and some additional top soil).  All of these improvements are part of the exchange of values that has become part of the relationship between myself and my dad and the Inn.

3) Taos Tea Shop.   The development of a teahouse is an important part of my plans for virtualTaos.  I ask how hard it would be to get a license to put a teahouse in the gallery area.  The tea would mostly be sold bulk, but I also want Internet and discussion group space.  The lobby of the Inn would make an ideal location for such a Tea Shop , as would some of the space at the Land and Culture Institute at Lajitas.

www.taosteashop.com  was registered today by OntologyStream Inc.

The purpose of the teashop is to bring people of quality from Taos into the Inn and to provide a community space.  The teas will be expensive.  The teas will also be brewed one cup (or pot) at a time so that people can talk about the nature and qualities of teas.  Tea ceremony may be demonstrated and community event may be scheduled.  A knowledge base about teas and herbs is being developed by a group of colleagues.  The encoding of this knowledge could become a major project that would be supported by Taos Tea Shop.  The encoding and the knowledge base technology will available both as a demonstration of an "active knowledge base" and the delivery of medical informatics type information (under the proper conditions and agreements).

4) Security:  Last summer was a hard one for Kelly as he was stolen from in many ways.  One major painting, "To Gods Unknown"

was stolen from the lobby about a month ago.  I did not tell Kelly about this.
