Jung talked about archetypes as being "systems of readiness," dynamic nuclei of psychic energy that predispose the mind to generate archetypal symbols and images. Epigenetic rules, according to Lumsden and Wilson, apparently predispose the mind to assimilate some culturgens more than others. I'm simply wondering if anyone has done a close reading of the primary literature from Jung and Lumsden & Wilson and arrived at some sort of synthesis.

System of readiness is a interesting phrase, like J. J. Gibson’s notion of ecological affordance. Ecological affordance is the foundational concept of ecological psychology (600 PhDs). This ties into the contributions that could come from evolutionary psychology, cultural anthropology
