I know the founders of Zope.com. They were at the first Python workshop, which I hosted at NIST in 1994.
One of the founders, Paul Everett, has moved to France, where he runs the Zope Foundation. Zope has transitioned from being the property of Zope Corp (formerly known as Digital Creations and Connecting Minds) to being a pure open source project owned by by the Zope Foundation. The biggest following of Zope now seems to be located in Europe. Rob Page, the other founder, is still running Zope Corp. When Guido left CNRI to found Python Labs he took a couple very good programmers with him, as well as Tim Peters. (Tim use to work for Cray and it shows. His posts to the Python mailing lists are amazing.)
The company that was sponsoring Python Labs went belly up during the dot com bubble burst and Python Labs was picked up by Zope Corp. Guido recently left Python Labs to join a Silicon Valley startup. Another local company that uses Zope is http://www.devis.com/ . They also have a cache of Zope expertise.
Are you using Zope 2 or Zope 3 for the work? The Zope 3 project is nearing a beta release. It cleans up many of the problems that Zope 2 has with extensibility. Zope 2 requires acquiring a great deal of Zope Zen in order to add capabilities to the server. Zope 3 was a ground up redesigned that aimed to reduce this requirement.
