First, we could "abstract
our conversation" in a way that is characteristic of the previous BCNGroup
Glass Bead Games. We can do this if you
agree to allow us to process and post parts of your communications to the BCNGroup Glass Bead Game.
The BCNGroup Glass Bead Game produces a record of the concepts being discussed but not necessarily the people involved.
We, you and I and a few others, may get into a discussion that has some impact and relevance on the deep problem facing the completion of Semantic Web technology and the ignition of a new type of Internet. This discussion has been going on for over a decade.
The knowledge network might be one way to describe what I and others, including Dr Jay Smart at NSA, believe will be a rapid ignition of a phenomenon associated with the sharing of "reified" knowledge about any object of investigation. Smart’s analysis is based on Stu Kaulfman’s Goggle is close to opening up a, well what Ben Goertzel called the "Web Mind".
Our two problems are:
1) The AI polemic and related mythology
2) The control of funding activities (government, and venture capital) by self centered business processes.
Both of these problems are problems of "religion", in that those who are most responsible for the pain will not open up a discussion about deep-seated accepted behaviors without a war of some type. They act with various types of blatant coercion.
This coercion has been reified by the rules of the business and consulting game. Many people have been fired, nor not funded, because of the power of this religion. We continue to have this problem.
The BCNGroup Founders have discussed these two issues at length in the BCNGroup Glass Bead Games.
BCNGroup resources, as have almost all knowledge science resources, have been very limited over the past ten years. The proposal placed before seven Senators, so far, and three Representatives, so far, is that 1/5 of the direct support to computer science department be re-programmed to go towards the establishment of true academic programs in K-12, college and graduate education, for the knowledge sciences.
A draft of a book about some of the literature is at:
http://www.bcngroup.org/area3/pprueitt/book.htm
Without a true academic program, beginning with K-12, our society may not be able to overcome the two problems that have for several years now prevented the demonstration of a non-sentient "intelligence" in the system of people and computational systems.
