Hi, Paul,
Thanks for
inviting me to describe what our technology is about, at Text Analysis International,
Inc. Feel free to post this
message in the beads or related forum.
David de
Hilster and I have spent the last two decades developing and elaborating tools
for natural language processing (NLP), culminating in the VisualText integrated
development environment (IDE) for NLP.
In tandem,
we have developed a multi-pass, multi-strategy framework for linguistic
engineering, or natural language engineering (NLE). This is embodied in the NLP++ programming language, which
integrates code, rules, and passes of a multi-pass analysis framework.
In
addition, we've developed the Conceptual Grammar knowledge base management
system (KBMS), a hierarchical conceptual representation framework. NLP++ tightly integrates knowledge base
objects into the same developer's sandbox.
A
capability that comes with VisualText is RUG, or automated rule generation,
which generates rules and passes given a hierarchy of text annotations.

With
VisualText, I can build systems very quickly, and I can implement any
strategies, heuristics, and algorithms I have in mind.

Amnon
