One of the projects that the BCNGroup have been working on is modeling real time social discourse. This work has occurred over the past two decades.
In our effort we have used what is often called "semantic extraction" to stand up a representation of the topics being expressed in social discourse, and the contextual placement of these topics as both experienced by readers/listeners and authors/publishers.
As one might expect, the technical and cultural capability is not as yet matured.
