The notion of an Entangled Bead

A Bead Game is a story is told twice, once with entangled beads and once with localized beads

During play, new beads are introduced as "candidate beads", and accepted for play, or not, by the Game Master. The Game Master also must provide a game outline in the form of one or more "entangled beads"and must produce new entangled beads as new beads are put into play. Each entangled bead is a list of topics produced by the Game Master through the introspective descriptive enumeration of some aspect of the game design.

The creation of an entangled bead is a condensation of thought, and is metaphorically regarded as the spreading of a quantum mechanical wave from the Game Master into the Game. The "played beads" are then localization of this spreading potential field into specific and well focused "interpretations" of the entangled bead. These localizations produce a energy source, which is in turn processed by the Game Master to produce additional entangled beads.

The playing of the game depends critically on putting into play beads that introduce new "affordances" or "close" affordances naturally related to the Master's entangled play. (An "affordance" is a "systemic need" and comes in two categories, internal affordance of an autonomous system, and the external affordance of an environment.

Thus the game is between a group of Players and the Master and involves that same type of forward "Fourier type spreading function" followed by a localization (inverse Fourier, Gabor or wavelet transform) of energy potential at point sources. This follows the grounding provided by Pribram's holonomic theory of brain function, and Bradley and Pribram's holonomic communication theory.

The game is completed when the Game Master judges that all affordances posed in the entangled beads have been expressed and closed.
