On entropy

Dear colleagues,
cc: Gaia Foundation, New England Complex Systems Institute
Marty, you said
"Might I suggest that the fundamental concept of entropy exists not singularly, but definably distinct in several contexts, e.g.: Thermodynamic, Biological, Intellectual, Economical, Political, Social, Environmental and Spiritual."
This would put the notion of entropy within the language of description of function/structure aspects for a single level of organization. Entropy would not be something that is universal in the sense of being conserved everywhere and in all contexts. It would be totally relative.
This use of the term "entropy" in this way seems like a radical departure for the demand that scholars in thermodynamic have imposed on other communities of scholars. Do you agree?
How might we justify this radical departure from established scholarship?
-Paul
