Note from the Acting Director
Dr. Paul S. Prueitt
Draft: Saturday, October 30, 1999
The BCN Group has three founders: myself, Dr. Edward Finn (Professor Emeritus at Georgetown University) and Dr. Art Murray, owner of TelArt Inc. and Professor at George Washington University.
I am the Director of the Foundation.
The three founders are attempting to turn control of the Foundation over to auxiliary groups as specified in the Charter.
The Acting Director has a science advisory board with about twenty scientists, as consistent with the Charter. He also have an esoteric advisory board consisting of five individuals. The purpose of the esoteric advisory board is to keep the Director informed about issues of ontology that the science advisory board does not address. The purpose of the science advisory board is to review decisions made by the Acting Director, as consistent with the Charter.
The primary drive modivating the Acting Director is to open up threshold scientific work on consciousness and brain function, as well as develop specific technologies for corporation knowledge management and national intelligence (as in CIA and NSA) gathering.
No classified work will be done by the BCN Group; however, it is recognized that the BCN Group history has had significant interaction with intelligence matters. The Acting Director does receive small amounts of money from intelligence, most related now to an awareness of Russian logic. Furthermore, there is a proposal to the White House from the VINITI labs (Moscow) and the BCN Group for a "Joint Russian-American Project in Applied Semiotics', submitted first in 1996. The proposal is for a total of 30 million dollars over five years. This proposal can be resubmitted to the next President, when he/she takes office.
The near term possibilities exist for small money from corporations for Knowledge Management seminars, and then large money from corporations for KM projects. This work is a taken in Partnership with TelArt Inc. in a way that is consistent with the BCN Group Prime Directive as specified in the Charter.
So the money sources are there, it is just a question of allowing them to see us.
BCN Group Contract Positions:
Currently there are a number of significant individuals who may come to play important roles in the bead game, and in the BCN Group Foundation
In each case their official title will be as a member of the BCN Group Management Team.
Dr. Art Murray is Director of Knowledge Management Services, BCN Group Management Team, BCN Group Inc.
Director of Membership, BCN Group Management Team, BCN Group Inc. This position is a virtual contract position. Nominations for the position are now open. Application to the position must include a resume, and a detailed plan for membership and corporate sponsorships. The plan should state a percentage of membership income as direct compensation to the Director of Membership. The application will be received by the Acting Director of the BCN Foundation.
Concerning the Bead Game:
The bead game is a Knowledge Management research and development lab. In the game, 'common human interaction' will occur in the context of tri-level knowledge artifacts. These artifacts produce 'memory' and 'anticipation' as well as user profiles (e-commerce).
Coodinator of Bead Game Software. This position is not yet compensated except via potential partial ownership stake in some aspect of web software designed to play the BCN Group Bead Game.
The foundation is looking for physical locations to ground it's operations. It is our idea that there be a network of coffee shops / book stores / software development houses; where students and mentors may gather and work on issues related to the bead game. Thus we have considered the following additional contract position:
Director of Relations to Physical Castalia (in reference to the concept of Castalia that one finds in Herman Hesse's book.) Proposals for this position are being accepted by the Director of the Foundation. The position will develop a plan that finances the placement of physical store fronts at a number of locations within the United States. These store fronts will support (1) exchange of ideas, (2) marketing of book and materials, (3) a bakery and coffee/tea shop, (4) some external gardens and craft center, (5) a place for game software development and (6) Knowledge Management seminars.
Other contact positions can be suggested by submission to the Acting Director, BCN Group Inc.
